TURMERIC TEA RECIPE FOR A HEALTHY THYROID [INFOGRAPHIC]

Turmeric has been historically known for its many health benefits, and this simple turmeric tea recipe may help you optimize your thyroid treatment plan. Turmeric health benefits include improved oxygen intake and low cholesterol levels which makes this recipe extremely good for your thyroid. Find out how to make the most out of turmeric in this tea recipe!

Ingredients
Turmeric powder (1-2 tbsp)
Black pepper powder (1 tsp)
Boiling water (1 cup)
Virgin coconut oil (1 tsp)
Sliced ginger
Cinnamon

Step 1: Prepare Turmeric Powder

Prepare your turmeric powder, about half a teaspoon. Put this in a small cup.

Step 2: Add Black Pepper Powder

This additional ingredient may help enhance the benefits of the turmeric. Black pepper has been known to increase the bioavailability of the turmeric powder by allowing your body to make the most of the turmeric’s curcumin content.

Step 3: Fill the Cup with Boiling Water

Once the turmeric and black pepper are in a small cup, fill the cup with boiling water. The boiling water will dissolve the pepper and turmeric. Make sure to stir the tea to let the ingredients mix together in the cup.

Step 4: Add in Virgin Coconut Oil

Add a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil. This oil may also help your body absorb the curcumin with ease because turmeric has been known to be better absorbed when taken with fat soluble. Virgin coconut oil may also help you maintain a healthy thyroid gland because of its fatty acids.

Step 5: Mix in Ginger

To add some extra taste and thyroid health benefits to this turmeric tea recipe, put in a few slices of ginger. Ginger is especially great for inflammation and improving thyroid function. It may also help your thyroid regulate your metabolism.

Step 6: Add Cinnamon for Taste

Sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top of your turmeric tea. The cinnamon will add some taste to the tea and help with your hypothyroidism. Just like the ginger, it also has anti-inflammatory properties. It may also help regulate your body’s sugar levels to prevent diabetes.

Step 7: Drink this Tea Regularly

You may try this turmeric tea recipe twice a day, once in the morning and before you go to sleep. Try it for two weeks then take a two-day break before continuing this routine.

Tip: The best pair to any thyroid treatment plan is consistency and patience. It’s better to take this drink 30-40 minutes after your thyroid medication.

This turmeric tea recipe may help with weight loss as a counter to thyroid symptoms of weight gain. It may also boost your body’s immune system while it accelerates your metabolism. Turmeric is filled with health benefits for your thyroid, and these added ingredients may help enhance the turmeric powder’s effectiveness.

Now that you’ve got your tea ready you can sip on it while skimming these turmeric health benefits!

9 Ways Turmeric May Benefit Your Thyroid Function

Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH) Definition: It stimulates the thyroid gland to reduce hormones.

Curcumin Definition: An active compound in turmeric. It has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Serotonin Definition: A neurotransmitter in your blood platelets. It transmits feelings referring to mood, libido, and even sleep.

Cortisol Definition: A hormone the body produces when it’s under stress. When produced in rare occasions, it can help the body decide between fight and flight. But when the body constantly produces large amounts of cortisol, it may have negative physiological and psychological implications.

1. Has Powerful Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Inflammation is a major cause of many thyroid complications such as Grave’s disease and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.

In most cases, inflammation itself is not the root cause of the problem. Rather, it aggravates and worsens the thyroid diseases over time.

While the objective in treatment is to determine and resolve the cause of the problem, using anti-inflammatory compounds can help suppress the pain and speed up the healing process.

One of the most common turmeric health benefits includes suppressing inflammation in the body.

Ask your doctor about using turmeric supplement for curcumin’s anti-inflammatory properties. It’s a holistic natural alternative to many chemical-infused drugs thyroiditis patients use.

2. Boosts the Immune System

One of the main reasons the turmeric root and plant helps with many thyroid problems is because it’s a powerful antioxidant.

With autoimmune diseases, the patient’s body attacks its own organs and glands, including the thyroid. When this happens, the body stops functioning normally, and this affects the patient’s day-to-day life.

Luckily, you may avoid autoimmune diseases by strengthening your immune system with turmeric. Taking turmeric regularly allows curcumin to regulate the activity of immune cells and cytokines.

Along with a healthy lifestyle, learning how to use turmeric properly may boost your immune system.

If you have a healthy immune system, the chances of you developing thyroid diseases drop significantly. Keep in mind that other factors such as your genetics and environment heavily affect the development of thyroid complications.

3. Protects and Heals the Intestinal Barrier

The intestines serve as barriers protecting the bloodstream from harmful bacteria and toxins. Your body functions properly because your guts keep these disease-causing compounds at bay.

But when your intestines malfunction, these toxins and bacteria may permeate the wall and enter the bloodstream. In layman’s terms, we call this the leaky gut.

A healthy diet and regular exercise can help maintain proper intestine function. But if you really want to help your gut, you might want to consider supplementing with turmeric.

Some of the health benefits of turmeric include protecting and healing the intestinal barrier.

Products such as turmeric tea, turmeric powder, and turmeric capsules, among others, can prevent and potentially cure the leaky gut.

4. Turmeric Curcumin Has Tumor-Inhibiting Properties

Curcumin is a natural polyphenolic compound in the turmeric plant. It’s a powerful antioxidant widely used in herbal medicine.

Recent studies show that the curcumin in turmeric supplements may prevent the worsening of thyroid cancer. Researchers found that curcumin suppresses the growth and spreading of tumor in thyroid patients.

Keep in mind that the curcumin in the common turmeric dosage is relatively low. You should not use it as a substitute for proper treatment.

What you can do is experiment with turmeric recipes as a precautionary measure to prevent thyroid cancer. Remember: prevention is always better than cure.

5. Reduces Goitrogenesis or Goiter

Goitrogenesis refers to the inflammation of the thyroid gland. This occurs when the patient’s immune system attacks the host’s own thyroid.

As a result, the thyroid cannot produce enough thyroid hormones and starts secreting thyroid-stimulating hormones instead (TSH). With an imbalance of TSH and thyroid hormones, the thyroid gland starts to inflame causing goiter.

By using turmeric, patients can maximize both its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Its antioxidant properties can help fight damage-causing free radicals which harm the immune system. This prevents goiter from happening in the first place.

At the same time, its anti-inflammatory effects can help reduce thyroid inflammation in the case of a damaged immune system.

6. Improves Cognitive Function

When suffering from hypothyroidism, you may experience some difficulty with your memory and cognitive skills. This is especially true for older patients with thyroid complications.

Luckily, apart from maintaining good thyroid health, patients can also use turmeric to ease the damage these diseases do to their cognitive skills.

Turmeric’s active ingredient curcumin increases the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). It’s a protein that plays an important role in stimulating the production of new brain cells.

This benefit of turmeric is useful for elderly patients who can no longer produce a sufficient number of brain cells regularly.

Plus, it doesn’t take much to maximize this benefit. In fact, you can already increase your cognitive skills just by sprinkling a few pinches of turmeric powder in your morning toast.

7. Removes Heavy Metal Toxins

We expose our body to different types of heavy metal toxins on a daily basis. If you take in too much, it can spell disaster for the different organs and glands that maintain your bodily functions.

Plus, it can disrupt your hormones and increase inflammation in your thyroid.

A solid way to fight this is to supplement with turmeric and curcumin.

Apart from balancing your hormones and reducing inflammation, it can rid your body of these toxins fast. That way, these heavy metal toxins won’t even get the chance to damage your body.

Tip: Apart from supplementing with turmeric, reduce the pollution in the air you breathe and water you drink. People consume a lot of heavy metal toxins through these.

8. Alleviates Depression

Despite being two different complications, hypothyroidism may lead to depression. The imbalance in your hormones affects your overall mental health as well.

Most patients who suffer from these symptoms take medication to ease the pain. But, a lot of these chemical-infused drugs have harmful side effects.

That’s why some patients opt for turmeric instead. Turmeric helps decrease brain fog and confusion by improving the oxygen flow into your brain.

Studies also show that curcumin eases the symptoms of depression by increasing serotonin levels while simultaneously reducing the amount of cortisol in the body.

9. Detoxifies the Body

Turmeric is a powerful compound that helps the liver flush out toxins in the body. You may not know it, but you take in a lot of toxins from the food you eat.

Unhealthy food choices can really build up the toxin and cholesterol level in your body. If this continues, your liver will not be able to flush out all the impurities and may eventually lead to gut and thyroid complications.

Try to include turmeric into your daily diet to reduce the number of toxins in your body. Make sure to follow a healthy thyroid-friendly diet to maximize its benefits.

Tip: Are you suffering from gastrointestinal diseases? Then try supplementing with turmeric. This helps remove gas and reduce inflammation in the digestive tract.

How to Take Turmeric

You can take turmeric by mixing the spices in your meals or grinding it into tea, then follow the recipe above! But if you really want to improve thyroid health through turmeric, then you need to use an effective supplement.

The best turmeric supplement to use would be one that pairs it with other ingredients that prevent thyroid complications.

For example, Thyroid Support System by Dr. Seeds is a powerful supplement that maximizes the benefits of turmeric, vitamin K2, and iodine, among others. Order a bottle today to see if it will help you with your thyroid health.

Note: Before undergoing any medication or supplementation, make sure to seek the advice of a medical professional.

A Staggering Article About How Blind We Can Be to Other’s Feelings

Sometimes, we say words to other people that don’t mean much to us, just to avoid an awkward silence. Just to say something. And we have no idea how people will react to these words. Writer Nadirah Angail published a moving entry in her blog about how easy it is to hurt other people and not even notice it. She wants to make us more attentive and sensitive.

Somewhere there is a woman: 30, no children. People ask her, “Still no kids?” Her response varies from day to day, but it usually includes forced smiles and restraint. “Nope, not yet,” she says with a chuckle, muffling her frustration. “Well, don’t wait forever. That clock is ticking, ya know,” the sage says before departing, happy with herself for imparting such erudite wisdom. The sage leaves. The woman holds her smile. Alone, she cries...

Cries because she’s been pregnant 4 times and miscarried every one. Cries because she started trying for a baby on her wedding night, and that was 5 years ago. Cries because her husband has an ex-wife and she has given him children. Cries because she wants desperately to try in vitro but can’t even afford the deposit. Cries because she’s done in vitro (multiple rounds) and still has no children. Cries because her best friend wouldn’t be a surrogate. “It would be too weird,” she said. Cries because her medication prevents pregnancy.

Cries because her husband blames himself, and that guilt makes him a hard person to live with. Cries because all of her sisters have children. Cries because one of her sisters didn’t even want children. Cries because her best friend is pregnant. Cries because she got invited to another baby shower. Cries because her mother keeps asking, “Girl, what are you waiting for?” Cries because her in-laws want to be grandparents. Cries because her neighbor has twins and treats them terribly. Cries because 16-year-olds get pregnant without trying. Cries because she’s an amazing aunt. Cries because she’s already picked out names. Cries because there’s an empty room in her house. Cries because there is an empty space in her body. Cries because she has so much to offer. Cries because he’d be a great dad. Cries because she’d be a great mother, but isn’t.

Somewhere else there’s another woman: 34, 5 children. People say to her, “5? Good lord, I hope you’re done!” And then they laugh... because those types of comments are funny. The woman laughs too, but not in earnest. She changes the subject, as she always does, and gives the disrespect a pass. Just another day. Alone, she cries... Cries because she’s pregnant with another and feels like she has to hide the joy. Cries because she always wanted a big family and doesn’t see why people seem so disturbed by it. Cries because she has no siblings and felt profoundly lonely as a child. Cries because her Granny had 12 and she’d love to be just like her.

Cries because she couldn’t imagine life without her children, but people treat her like they’re a punishment. Cries because she doesn’t want to be pitied. Cries because she and her husband are perfectly capable of supporting their family, but that doesn’t seem to matter. Cries because they assume she’s just irresponsible. Cries because she’s tired of the “funny” comments. Cries because she minds her own business. Cries because sometimes she doubts herself and wonders if she should have stopped 2 kids ago. Cries because people are rude. Cries because all she wants to do is live in peace.

Another woman: 40, one child. People say to her, “Only one? You never wanted any more?” “I’m happy with my one,” she says calmly, a rehearsed response she’s given more times than she can count. It’s pretty believable. No one would ever suspect that alone, she cries... Cries because her one pregnancy was a miracle. Cries because her son still asks for a brother or sister. Cries because she always wanted at least 3. Cries because her second pregnancy had to be terminated to save her life. Cries because her doctor says it would be “high-risk.” Cries because she’s struggling to care for the one she has.

Cries because her husband died and she hasn’t found love again. Cries because her family thinks one is enough. Cries because she’s deep into her career and can’t step away. Cries because her postpartum depression was so intense. Cries because she had to have a hysterectomy. Cries because she wants another baby, but can’t have it.

These women are everywhere. They are our neighbors, our friends, our sisters, our co-workers, our cousins. They have no use for our advice or opinions. Their wombs are their own. Let’s respect that.

Are Going on Tour Together to Bring Emo Back

Whether we like to admit it or not, we all went through that emo phase in our adolescence.

Thick black kohl eyeliner, snake-bite piercings, energy drink running through the veins... being emo was pretty cool back in the day.

But it turns out, being emo is still pretty cool, and it's about to make its biggest come-back yet.

3 of the biggest names in the emo music genre have announced a huge mega-tour and it's going to be wonderfully nostalgic for all of us emo kids out there, so keep scrolling to find out more...

Everyone has been emo at some point in their lives...

Whether that was dying neon pink strips into your hair, over-doing the liquid eyeliner, or wearing spikes as jewelry – being emo defined many individuals and it was a way of life.

Being emo isn't a bad thing...

Emo stands for “emotional,” and despite the stereotype of emos being depressed all the time, people who identify as emo are generally very happy and loving people.

And it isn't just about the eyeliner and facial piercings...

Emo has an entire music genre that is still pretty popular to this very day.

The emo genre goes a lot further back than one would expect...

via: Getty Images

The first wave of emo music began in the 1980s, with it tracing back to the hardcore-punk scene.

The term "emo" was rejected in the music world...

via: Getty Images

According to NME, it was the infamous punk-rock band The Rites of Spring who made a call out against it, with singer Guy Picciotto saying in an interview: “I’ve never recognized ’emo’ as a genre of music.”

“I just thought that all the bands I played in were punk-rock bands. The reason I think it’s so stupid is that – what, like the Bad Brains weren’t emotional? What – they were robots or something? It just doesn’t make any sense to me.”

Emo was having a hard time being heard in the music industry...

via: Getty Images

The skate magazine Thrasher renamed the genre emo-core, in which Ian McKaye from Embrace branded it as “the stupidest f****** thing I’ve ever heard.”

The 1990s brought emo into their second wave...

As NME outlined, it’s an era that captured the hearts and minds of global youth, with a generation of teenagers quickly becoming enamored with emo’s woeful sound.

The third wave of emo was when things really exploded...

By the time the Millenium came around, the boundaries of emo had been pushed even further.

It became intertwined with pop-punk with the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Saves the Day, and Brand New – but it is MySpace that we truly have to thank for the rise in emo music.

MySpace took emo from a music genre to a culture.

This is when the emo giants made an appearance with their poker straight hair and skin-tight jeans.

My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and Paramore were amongst the many large bands that quickly dominated the emo music scene.

It wasn't everyone's cup of tea...

Newspapers such as The Daily Mail declared that it was a “cultural crisis point” and to many, the sound of emo music certainly came across this way.

Icons were made overnight...

Bands such as Fall Out Boy, Green Day, and Weezer became iconic faces in the emo music scene.

The true faces of emo...

All 3 bands have been around since the late 1990s through to the noughties and have each made their own impact on the world of emo music as we know it.

It's been a fairly quiet few years for these bands...

Green Day has been off the road since their Revolution Radio tour in 2017, as have Fall Out Boy with an exceptionally quiet year apart from 3 one-off festival dates.

Weezer, however, has been extremely active since their cover of Toto’s “Africa” went viral and became a huge hit… weirdly.

A major announcement has been made...

The 3 bands have recently announced a combined tour in 2020 to officially bring emo music back.

The Hella Mega tour will kick off June 2020 in Paris...

Fall Out Boy, Green Day, and Weezer will be truly joining forces to bring us the best of emo.

They will begin the European leg of the tour in Paris before moving onto North America the following month.

They have released a full month's worth of dates in the U.S...

The first U.S date is the 17th of July 2020 at Seattle’s T-Mobile park and the tour is wrapped up at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia on August 29th.

Weezer will perform first, followed by Fall Out Boy and then Green Day who will close the show...

Billie Joe Armstrong, the vocalist of Green Day, spoke to Rolling Stone and said: “We talked about how we weren’t really wanting to do stadiums and do something that was like a throwback to the Monsters of Rock Tour,” in reference to a series of metal tours in the 1980s and ’90s.

It's safe to say that all bands involved cannot wait to get the show on the road...

“There was, of course, Fall Out Boy and Weezer, and now we’re stoked,” he went on to say.

The bands aren't the only ones excited for the tour...

A lot is to be expected...

Am I ready to drop hundreds of dollars on a Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer concert?

Jaycee Dugard Was Kidnapped For 18 Years

Here’s What She Looked Like After Her Rescue

via: Daily Mail

When she was just 11 years old, Jaycee Lee Dugard was abducted near Lake Tahoe, California.

While she was walking to her school bus stop, Phillip Garrido shocked her with a stun gun and took her back to his cabin.

For 18 years, she was held by Phillip and his wife Nancy.

Search efforts proved fruitless, but after years of suffering, she found her way free.

See how she did it and what she looks like now.

Here's the photo of her that made national news when she was reported missing.

This appeared on news broadcasts throughout the US.

Here are her captors, Phillip and Nancy Garrido.

via: The Times

Phillip was a drug addict and had a dark history of sexual deviancy.

As you can tell from this pic, things didn’t work out too well for them.

Here's an aerial view of the home.

via: Daily Mail

The diagram shows the shed which housed not just Jaycee, but also her daughters (that she unwillingly had with Garrido) as well.

They were allowed outside, and utilized a swing set on the house's property.

The children were also kept in this tent as well.

via: Telegraph

It seems far from secure, but the children were likely so scared that they never thought to run away due to the risk of harm should they have been caught.

Jaycee did the best that she could with the terrible accommodations and tried to create a livable environment for herself and her daughters.

via: Telegraph

Eventually, the Garridos let Jaycee accompany them out in public and even at work.

Her distinct appearance from the other children caused some suspicion, and the police eventually investigated the home, finding the horrors it contained.

The Garridos eventually plead guilty after a long court case, and justice was starting to be served for Jaycee.

Phillip Garrido was given a 431-year to life sentence, while Nancy Garrido received 36-years to life behind bars.

On the right is an artist's depiction of what Jaycee would have looked like at 25.

It wasn’t until she was 29 that she was found and freed.

And it turns out that the artist’s depiction wasn’t too far off.

This is Jaycee today, free and happy.

She has been very busy in recent years as well.

She's become very active in the battle to raise awareness about child abduction after her trauma.

via: Daily Mail

In 2011, she released a harrowing book detailing her ordeal called A Stolen Life.

Here she is speaking with Diane Sawyer during an interview following her rescue.

What to wear if you want to stay safe in the protests

Protesters have been on the streets for more than two months now, facing off against police, tear gas, rubber bullets, and pepper spray nearly every week.
By now, the protesters -- mainly young people and students -- are seasoned pros, and arrive at protests decked out in gear. Here are some of the items to bring and wear if you want to stay safe at a protest:
  • Goggles protect your eyes from tear gas, which irritates and burns the skin and eyes. These are also useful if you don't want to be easily identified.
  • Gas masks aren't cheap but they provide crucial protection against tear gas.
  • Hard hats also offer protection against police batons and flying objects -- protesters have thrown everything from bricks to plastic bottles during clashes with police.
  • Water is a must -- heat stroke and dehydration are real threats in the sweltering summer. Water can also extinguish tear gas canister and rinse the gas from your eyes during clashes.
  • Umbrellas have become a protest symbol, perhaps inspired by 2014's months-long pro-democracy protest, dubbed locally as the "Umbrella Revolution." They can act as shields against tear gas and unwanted cameras.
  • Sport shoes, shin pads, gloves, towels, and a change of clothes aren't a must -- but they add small degrees of comfort during unpleasant protests.

Probable Symptoms Of Breast Cancer That Are Not Lumps

Women have a tendency to suffer from a number of diseases and ailments throughout different stages of their lives. A now common form of disease that is enwrapping women is breast cancer. Here, the cancer cells are activated in the breast and can end up having detrimental consequences, including death. Several medical research work and awareness programs have helped immensely to reduce death rates. Among all, it is estimated that the women of the USA suffer from the highest rates of breast cancer. This happens almost every year to a large chunk of the population around the world.

Cancer stems out of abnormal growth of a tumor, i.e. an increase in the number of a particular form of discarded cells that do not die and continue to multiply. Such malignant cells can grow anywhere in the body. The disease could also be genetic at times. The most commonly acknowledged form of visible breast cancer is that of a lump that is formed in and around the breast. Doctors check the possibility of such lumps whenever one pays a visit, for it is a very common symptom that is easily detectable. However, little do people know that there can be several other symptoms of identifying breast cancer. Listed here are a few of them.

Pain

Sudden painful sensations felt in the breast, medically known as mastalgia, could be an outcome of breast cysts, excessive stress, or hormonal imbalances. Breast cancer can also lead to the inflation of the affected breast.

Nipple contraction

Women suffering from breast cancer might have a probable tendency of contraction of nipples that can even get withdrawn inwards.

Skin dimpling

It is a form of skin irritation which may look like a perforated orange peel and is a probable sign of breast cancer.

Scaliness

Breast cancer distorts the color and texture of the skin by making it look old and crumpled, and at times, flaky.

Size abnormality

Generally, women do have a slight difference in the size of their breasts, but what is abnormal is the sudden enlargement or contraction of the affected breast in a largely visible form.

Abnormal nipple discharge

When the nipples give out milk and there are other liquids that are discharged, it is a sign of serious medical ailment and needs a doctor’s supervision.

Enlarged lymph nodes

Lymph nodes under the armpits could swell up as a sign of breast cancer. Although it could also be a symptom of lymphoma, it is recommended to have a clinical test. Increase in the number of hard and swollen lymph is a sign of tumor.

Sudden weight loss

A generic symptom of cancer is weight loss and breast cancer could lead to a similar condition in an abnormally fast pace.

Lookout for these symptoms in your body and get regular checkups done to remain healthy.

The key for proper sleep is to slow down your mind and prevent it go in all sorts of directions especially before going to bed.

You should try to find the method that offers you relaxation so that you can free your body and mind from all the tension. Possible solutions are practicing yoga, meditation, having a walk in nature, listening to relaxing music, reading a book, in fact anything that relaxes you.

How To Keep Your Skin Young And Beautiful

TIPS;  To avoid breakouts or discoloration of your skin, never go to bed with your makeup on. Even oil-free makeup can clog pores and affect the tone and clarity of your skin. If you just do not have the energy to give your face a thorough wash after a long day, then stock up on cleanser cloths. One quick swipe could make all the difference.

By committing to a more informed and diligent skin care regimen, one can greatly improve the health and appearance of the skin. Where information is concerned, every little bit counts. Now that you have taken the first step, you only need to continue reading.

If your current day cream or lotion does not contain ingredients to protect your skin from the sun, consider mixing in a lightweight sunscreen. Ideally, your facial products should offer SPF of at least 15. Seek out skincare with sun-loving ingredients like vobenzone, Helioplex, or micronized zinc. These ingredients offer broad-spectrum coverage without affecting the appearance of the skin’s coloring.

To avoid getting wrinkles and worn looking skin, wear skin protection while in direct sunlight. Types of protection include sunscreen, hats, and clothes such as long sleeve shirts, pants and skirts. The UV rays in sunlight can cause severe damage to skin, blemishes, dry skin, sun burn and cancer.

A good skin care tip is to avoid using soap directly on your face. Using soap is fine on your body, but using it on your face can cause the skin to dry out, which may result in a breakout. Generally, soaps should be applied below the neck.

In order to have good skin, you must drink a sufficient amount of water. Your skin will dehydrate if you don’t drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water every day. If your body is not getting enough water, your skin may tell you about it by becoming itchy and dry. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to keep your skin resilient.

To properly care for your skin, it is essential that you double-cleanse your face. The first cleansing should remove your makeup and sunscreen. The second wash should include a product that has rejuvenating properties to maximize the benefits to your skin. This two-step process is particularly important if you wear a lot of makeup.

For healthy skin, stay away from unhealthy items: Caffeine drinks are particularly bad for your skin. Drinks such as soda, tea, and coffee, will damage your skin. Alcohol is also. It may be hard to stay completely away from these things, but if you can use them in moderation, your skin will thank you. Smoking will both damage and age your skin quickly!

If you want to reduce the irritation on any part of your skin, invest in tea tree oil. Use three parts tea tree oil and one part water, to create a mixture that you can use to exfoliate the outer layer of your face. This will also help to reduce irritation and create a beautiful palette for attacking your day in style.

Be sure to use plenty of the right kind of sunscreen before going outside if you want to take proper care of your skin. Put it on a half hour before you go outside and reapply it every two hours. If you sweat heavily or get wet, you should reapply it more frequently.

To help your skin look its best, consider adding fruits and vegetables to your diet. These foods contain protective properties that help the skin maintain its healthy appearance. Leafy greens, cantaloupe, oranges and blueberries, are all excellent choices to incorporate into your meals. Not only will they improve your skin, but they have other health benefits as well.

To keep skin from becoming dry in the fall and winter, moisturize every single day after your bath or shower. This is the best time to take care of this part of your daily skin care routine because it takes advantage of the moisture that has been absorbed by the skin during bathing.

Protection and restoration are both vital to healthy, youthful looking skin and nothing does a better job than fruits and vegetables. They contain vitamins C and A, which are both antioxidants. Fruits and vegetables are not simply something your mother told you about along with keeping your elbows off the table; they are serious participants in maintaining beautiful skin for life.

Quit smoking for better looking skin. Smoking is terrible for your skin, making it look older and contributing to fine lines and wrinkles. It narrows blood vessels and decreases blood flow, which depletes the skin of necessary oxygen and nutrients. Smoking also damages collagen, which is responsible for smoothness and elasticity and robs your body of Vitamins A and C.

You need to give your skin attention each day. There are many ways to help skin look its best. Use the tips you have learned here to keep your skin at its best.

How to Dry Brush—and Why It’s So Potent

Stacked amongst the clear glass jars of homeopathic remedies, immune-supporting supplements, rose creams, and carrot cleansers on the sparkling shelves of The Organic Pharmacy on Bleecker Street in New York, you’ll find a long wooden brush that looks straight out of an especially well-made Norwegian sauna. The brush is one of Margo Marrone’s—the London-based apothecary’s founder—favorite items. “It’s invaluable in helping with so many issues, but especially detox,” she says. Indeed, the practice of brushing the skin once or twice daily with a soft but firm brush is more common during a detox, but regular users and fans report more benefits when it becomes a permanent habit—from sweeping away dead skin cells to improving the appearance of skin.

Stimulating the lymphatic system is at the core of all its benefits, Marrone says, which is why dry brushing is recommended along with the company’s bestselling 10-day Detox program. “The lymphatic system is responsible for collecting and transporting waste to the blood,” she explains. “Dry brushing can stimulate the lymphatic system as it stimulates and invigorates the skin.”

A long brush like Organic Pharmacy’s allows you to get at hard-to-reach spots like the middle of your back; the shorter one from Aromatherapy Associates fits in your hand perfectly, making it incredibly easy to use.

Dry brushing is one of those rare things that feels just as good when you do it yourself, and it’s incredibly easy to incorporate into your routine. Most experts recommend dry brushing in the morning, rather than before bed, because they believe it has energizing qualities. Some people use the brush on its own, others put a bit of body oil onto the brush before they use it. “Shower before skin brushing if you’re using an oil on the brush,” says Marrone, who brushes on Rose & Jasmine Oil to maximize benefits. “If not, shower after skin brushing, then apply oil or lotion.” It’s fantastic to do in conjunction with a sauna or steam, too.

To do it yourself, start at your feet and brush upward towards the heart. Similarly, when you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work upward. Use firm, small strokes upwards, or work in a circular motion. For the stomach, work in a clockwise pattern. Harsh exfoliation is never the point; be sure not to press too hard, or use too-stiff of a brush. “Any kind of brushing or exfoliation should be gentle and should never break the skin.” Marrone adds. “I’ve tried skin brushes that are so hard they cannot be used due to the damage they do. I chose medium-soft cactus bristles for our skin brush for gentleness; the skin should never be scratched or damaged.”

Dedicate at least three to five minutes to brushing.

Natural Medine For Moles, Warts, Blackheads, Skin Tags And Age Spots

These skin issues often result from hormonal imbalance, unhealthy lifestyle or simply genetics. But, the list of causes is much longer.

There’s no doubt some of the most common cosmetic issues affecting both men and women include moles, skin tags, clogged pores and age spots.

Although you can find a wide array of over-the-counter products to treat skin issues such as warts or tags, these products are not always the safest solution as they are often filled with harsh chemicals that do more damage than good. These harsh chemicals can irritate your skin, especially if it’s sensitive.

On the other, natural medicine provides effective, chemical-free solutions for excellent skin care. If you read on, you’ll find out how you can treat these common skin issues completely naturally.

MOLES

Moles can occur at any time of life and affect people of all ages, including children. There are two major factors for the appearance of moles – sun exposure, which affects skin pigmentation cells, also known as melanocytes, and the genetic factor.

Castor Oil and Baking Soda Treatment

You can get the same results by using a combination of castor oil and baking soda. Simply mix the two ingredients into a gummy paste then apply this on the mole. Cover the area with a bandage and leave it overnight. Remove the bandage in the morning then wash the area. Do the treatment every night.

Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment

Soak a cotton ball in some apple cider vinegar then apply on the mole. Secure it with a bandage or some medical tape leaving it on for several hours. The mole will fall off.

Garlic Treatment

Garlic extract or simply plain garlic is one of the most beneficial natural remedies for a number of skin issues including moles. It’s very strong, so it’s important to protect your surrounding skin (you can use masking tape or petroleum jelly for this) before doing the treatment. What you do is apply some garlic extract or crushed garlic to the mole, cover the area with a bandage and leave it for four hours. You should do this on a regular daily basis.

WARTS

Warts are caused by the human papilloma virus or HPV. The conventional treatment of these small bumps on the skin includes salicylic acid or freezing, but these are not 100% effective. The best natural remedies for warts include:

Garlic Treatment

Crushed garlic or garlic juice can eliminate warts in only two weeks. What you do is rub some crushed garlic on the wart and put a Band-Aid over it every night before going to bed. Alternatively, you can apply garlic juice to the wart twice a day.

Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment

Soak a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar and apply on the wart. Secure with a bandage. Leave overnight then replace with a new one. The wart will gradually dry up and fall off.

Banana Treatment

Rub the wart with the inside of a banana peel every night before going to bed. Do the treatment for two weeks or until the wart disappears.

Pure Raw Honey Treatment

Rub some raw organic honey on the wart before you go to bed then wrap it with a bandage.

SKIN TAGS

Skin tags are growths on the skin that often result from skin rubbing against skin or clothes. They can appear anywhere on the body, but normally in places where skin folds such as the neck, armpits, upper chest and eyelids. Except for being quite ugly in appearance, skin tags can also cause skin irritation, even infections, when you accidentally scratch them with clothes or jewellery.

This mixture is extremely efficient in treatment of skin tags. Mix the ingredients to create a paste then apply it to the tag, securing it with a bandage. You can keep the paste refrigerated for up to 48 hours. Do the treatment 2-3 times a day.

Tea Tree Oil Treatment

Soak a cotton ball with water and add a couple of drops tea tree oil. Pat the cotton ball on the skin tag then secure it with a bandage. Repeat the treatment 2-3 times a day for a month. Although it takes some time, this method is the safest for skin tags around the eyes.

Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment

Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar. Pat the skin tag with ACV leaving the cotton ball on for as long as you want. The skin tag will darken and fall off by itself in a few days.

DARK SPOTS

Dark spots, also known as age spots, usually affect middle-aged or elder people, this is not 100% rule. They are discolored patches of skin on the face, hands and forearms which appear with age. Other causes include sun exposure.

Onion Treatment

Simply juice or blend the onion and apply this to the dark spot. Leave it to act for 10-15 minutes then rinse off. Do the treatment on a regular daily basis until the dark spots disappear.

Aloe Vera Treatment

Apply some fresh aloe vera gel on the dark spot and leave it to act for half an hour. Ideally, you should use the inner gel of a fresh aloe plant.

Lemon Treatment

Soak a cotton ball in lemon juice then rub it on the dark spot twice a day.

Horseradish TreatmentMix some horseradish with vinegar then apply this to the dark spot every day. The dark spot will slowly fade away.

Vitamin C Serum Treatment

Organic, chemical-free vitamin C serums are extremely beneficial for skin health. These contain topically active vitamin C and can rapidly eliminate dark spots. Also, they can repair damaged skin.

CLOGGED PORES

Clogged pores, which are more typical of oily skin, are caused by excess sebum secretion by the skin oily glands. They are not just ugly in appearance, but also painful, especially if left untreated or if grow in size. They significantly affect your skin quality.

Steaming Treatment

Start by washing your face then steam it over a pot of freshly boiled water. Cover your head with a towel so as to get optimal effects from the steam. Remain in this position 10-15 minutes. Wash your face with warm water several times after the steaming. In the end, apply some vinegar to remove any extra debris.

Sugar Scrub Treatment

Create a paste using sugar and lemon. Rub this in using an organic cotton washcloth in a circular motion. Once you are done scrubbing, wash your face thoroughly.

If you enjoyed this post, I’d be very grateful if you’d help it spread by emailing it to a friend, or sharing it on Pinterest. Thank you!
