Those caught not wearing face masks in public places or closed crowded areas will be slapped a fine of Dh3,000 immediately, Abu Dhabi Police have said in a renewed warning.
The UAE government had in May tightened the noose on "reckless and irresponsible" people flouting Covid-19 guidelines, including increasing the fine for not donning a face mask to Dh3,000.
Police noted that the regulations are applied strictly to anyone who fails to abide by the precautionary measures.
Officials noted that during the past months, police officers were only issuing warning notices to some of the violators of the Covid-19 precautionary measures, but now that everyone is aware of the regulations, no excuses are accepted.
Police said their teams have continued with their field operations round the clock to ensure that all residents fall in line.
In a video released by the Abu Dhabi Police on Twitter, its field teams can be seen on bicycles, horses and in patrol cars moving on the beaches, streets and through the busy areas to ensure safety of people as life returns to normalcy.
"We call upon all residents to continue adhering to the Covid-19 precautionary and preventive measures and to cooperate with the field police patrols," said police, while adding that people who fail to comply with the regulations risk being fined.
UAE authorities earlier said there had been a "significant increase" in fines issued for breaches of Covid-19 rules since the nationwide disinfection drive ended in June.
